1About these terms
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your use of Farekeep (the “App”) on iPhone. The App is published by Rufaidah Binte Mohd Kamal, an individual developer based in Singapore (“we”, “us”).
By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Our Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information.
If you are under 18, please read these Terms with a parent or guardian.
2What the app is
Farekeep is a trip-scoped expense tracker for a group travelling together. It records who paid, how costs were split and who owes whom. It is a settlement tool: it is not a budgeting app and not a payment app.
Farekeep is free to download and use, with no in-app purchases.
3Licence
iPhone. If you got the App from Apple’s App Store, it is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”). The Apple EULA is between you and us, not Apple; we, not Apple, are responsible for the App and its support. These Terms supplement the Apple EULA. If anything in these Terms conflicts with the Apple EULA, the Apple EULA prevails to the extent of the conflict; otherwise both apply.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your own use. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the App, except where the law gives you that right regardless.
5What Farekeep does not do
- Farekeep does not move money. “Mark as paid” is a manual record you and your group make; it is not a receipt from a payment system and does not confirm that any payment happened.
- Exchange rates are entered by you for each expense; Farekeep does not look rates up. Receipt text recognition runs on your iPhone and can be wrong, so check every value before you confirm it.
- Farekeep is not accounting, tax or financial advice, and balances and suggested settlements are only as accurate as the data in the trip.
6Sync, sharing and deletion
- Farekeep needs an Apple Account signed in to your iPhone and iCloud turned on for the app to sync or share trips. Trip data lives in the iCloud account of the person who created the trip.
- When several people edit at once, Farekeep applies its documented conflict rules (for example, the later edit wins field by field, and a delete beats an edit). Review a shared trip before settling up.
- If the trip’s organiser deletes a trip, or an admin does, it ends for every member. Because of how iCloud sharing works, data held in the organiser’s iCloud is only fully cleared the next time the organiser’s own device opens Farekeep.
- Deleting the app removes only the copy on your device. Delete your trips in the app first if you want them gone from iCloud.
7Third-party services and software
Farekeep stores and syncs trips using Apple iCloud (CloudKit). Apple’s own terms and privacy policy govern that service. We are not responsible for services we do not run, and they can change or be unavailable.
8Ownership
The App, its design and its original content belong to us or our licensors. Your own content stays yours; we claim no rights in it. Because Farekeep does not send your content to us, we do not receive a licence to it.
9Disclaimer and limits of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or uninterrupted operation. Because trip sync across devices depends on iCloud and Apple’s sharing features, we cannot guarantee that every change will sync, or sync instantly.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability to you, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, for any loss or damage of any kind arising from or connected with the App or these Terms, including any disagreement or loss between members of a trip about money owed. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, special and consequential loss, and loss of data, profit, time or opportunity. The App is provided free of charge and you use it at your own risk.
You are responsible for your own decisions and for checking anything important independently, such as times, amounts or travel plans, and for keeping your own backups. We are not responsible for third-party services the App relies on (such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Land Transport Authority DataMall, your device maker, or your network), or for device settings, battery-saving modes or operating-system limits that stop the App working as you expect.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, and nothing affects your statutory consumer rights. If any part of this section is found to be unenforceable, it applies to the maximum extent the law permits and the rest remains in force.
10Ending your use
You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may stop offering or supporting the App, or update or change it, at any time. Sections on ownership, disclaimers and liability continue to apply after you stop.
11Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms, for example when the App gains new features. We will post the updated Terms on this page and change the effective date. If you keep using the App after an update, you accept the revised Terms.
12Governing law
These Terms, and any dispute about them or the App between you and us, are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have non-exclusive jurisdiction. This does not take away any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of the country where you live, including any right to bring a claim in your local courts.
