Privacy Policy

Your notes stay yours.

Notinot is a local-first notebook app for iPad and iPhone. We don't run servers, we don't have user accounts, and we do not receive, store or read your notes.

Effective: 23 September 2026 · Last updated: 27 October 2026 · Applies to: Notinot for iOS and iPadOS, including its Home Screen widget

At a glance

  • No accounts. There is no Notinot sign-up or login.
  • No analytics. No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
  • No ads or tracking. We do not track you across apps or websites.
  • You choose storage. On your device, iCloud Drive, or your own OneDrive.

1.About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Notinot app ("Notinot", "the app", "we", "us" or "our") handles information when you use it on iPhone or iPad. By using Notinot, you acknowledge that you have read this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the app.

2.What we collect

We, the developer, do not collect any personal information. Notinot has no user accounts and runs no servers. It contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting code. We have no technical means to see your notes, your file names, or how you use the app.

Everything you create in Notinot, including handwriting, typed text, images, diagrams, backgrounds and templates, is stored in a location you choose and control (see Section 3).

The App Store's privacy label for Notinot lists User Content and User ID. This is only because Apple's definition covers data sent to a third-party service you connect. If you choose to connect Microsoft OneDrive (Section 4), your notes and your Microsoft account identifier go directly between your device and Microsoft. They are used only to make the feature work, never for tracking, and we do not receive them.

3.Where your notes are stored

Notinot saves your notebooks as ordinary files in the location you pick:

LocationWho holds the data
On My iPhone / On My iPadOnly your device.
iCloud DriveYour own iCloud account. Apple stores and syncs it under the Apple Privacy Policy.
Other Files locationsThe provider you choose in the Files app. Their own privacy policy applies.
Microsoft OneDrive (optional)Your own personal Microsoft account. See Section 4.

In each case, the data goes only between your device and a storage service you already hold an account with. Notinot does not send a copy to us.

4.Microsoft OneDrive (optional)

You can choose to connect a personal Microsoft account so that Notinot can open and save notebooks in your OneDrive. This is entirely optional. If you never connect it, none of this section applies to you.

How sign-in works

You sign in on Microsoft's own sign-in page, shown in a secure system browser sheet. Notinot never sees or stores your Microsoft password. After sign-in, Microsoft gives the app access tokens. These are stored in your device's secure Keychain and are never sent to us.

What Notinot can access

Notinot asks for the minimum Microsoft permissions it needs to work:

  • Read and write your files (Files.ReadWrite): to list, open and save notebooks in your OneDrive. It does not ask for access to files other people have shared with you.
  • Sign you in and read your basic profile (User.Read): to show which account is connected in Settings.
  • Keep access to data you have given it access to (offline_access): so syncing can continue without asking you to sign in every time.

How the data flows

Your notebooks travel directly between your device and Microsoft's servers (Microsoft Graph and OneDrive). Notinot keeps a working set of notebooks on your device so you can keep working offline, and uploads your changes to OneDrive automatically in the background, over Wi-Fi or cellular unless you turn off “Sync over cellular” in Settings. Notebooks you create or import into OneDrive are stored there as PDF files. If the app cannot reach OneDrive, changes wait on your device until they can be uploaded. We do not operate any server in this flow, and we cannot access your OneDrive.

Notinot also reads OneDrive’s own preview image of a notebook so it can show covers in the library and, if you use the Home Screen widget on a OneDrive library, on the widget (see Section 6).

Stopping access

  • Sign out of OneDrive in Notinot's Settings. This removes your Microsoft sign-in from the app and deletes the cached copies from your device. If a copy still has changes that haven't been uploaded, Notinot keeps that copy and tells you, rather than deleting it.
  • You can also remove Notinot's access to your Microsoft account at any time at account.live.com/consent/Manage.

Microsoft's handling of your data is covered by the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

5.Device permissions

Notinot only asks for access when you use a feature that needs it. You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

  • Camera: used only when you choose Scan Document to add a scanned page to a note. Scans are saved into your notebook and nowhere else.
  • Photos: Notinot uses Apple's system photo picker. The app only receives the specific images you select, and does not get access to your photo library.
  • Files: Notinot can only access the folders and files you choose through Apple's system file picker.

6.Data kept on your device

To work properly, Notinot keeps some information on your device only. None of it is sent to us:

  • App settings and preferences, such as your default paper style and page size.
  • A secure reference to the storage folder you chose, recently opened and pinned notebooks, and folders you have hidden.
  • Custom background templates you create.
  • Titles and cover images for the Home Screen widget. For notebooks in a OneDrive library, the cover image may be OneDrive’s own preview image, downloaded by the app and saved here. These are stored in a container on your device that is shared only between the app and its own widget. The widget has no network access.
  • System logs used for troubleshooting. These stay on your device, and note titles and folder names in them are marked private by the operating system.

7.Crash reports

Notinot doesn't contain any crash-reporting tools of its own. If you have turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may give us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. Apple controls this under its own privacy policy, and you can turn it off at any time. We use these reports only to find and fix bugs.

8.Sharing and exporting

Notinot only shares or exports a note when you choose to, for example as a PDF or image through the system share sheet. “Back Up All Notebooks” copies your notebooks only to a folder you pick. Once you send a note to another app, person or service, that recipient's privacy practices apply to it.

9.Tracking and advertising

Notinot shows no ads and does not track you, as Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework defines tracking. We do not sell, rent or share personal information. We do not build profiles about you, and we do not use your data for automated decision-making.

10.Retention and deletion

We hold no data about you, so there's nothing for us to keep or delete. You're in control, but note that deleting the app can permanently delete your own notes:

  • Delete notebooks in Notinot or in the Files app.
  • Deleting the app removes its on-device data, including settings, templates, widget data, cached OneDrive copies, and any notebooks stored on the device itself (“On My iPhone” or “On My iPad”). Any OneDrive changes that have not yet been uploaded are lost too. Notebooks already saved in iCloud Drive, OneDrive or another Files location stay there until you delete them. Export or back up anything you want to keep first.
  • Remove OneDrive access as described in Section 4.

11.Security

Notinot relies on the security built into iOS and iPadOS. This includes app sandboxing, data protection encryption for cached files, and the Keychain for sign-in tokens. All connections to Microsoft use encrypted HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but because we don't collect your data, none of it is held on systems we run.

12.Children

Notinot is a general productivity app and is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live). If you believe a child has somehow given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13.Your rights

Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you rights over your personal data. These can include the right to access, correct, delete or move it, or to object to how it is used. Examples of such laws are the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and the Australian Privacy Act.

We don't collect or hold personal data about you, so we usually have nothing to give you, correct or delete. You can use these rights for data held by Apple or Microsoft directly with them. If you have any privacy question or request, contact us (Section 16) and we will reply within a reasonable time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

14.Third-party services

Notinot works with services run by other companies, but only ones you choose to use: Apple (iCloud Drive and the App Store) and Microsoft (OneDrive). These companies are responsible for their own data handling under their own terms and privacy policies. They may process data in countries other than yours. We don't control, and aren't responsible for, the practices of these services.

Notinot includes the Microsoft Authentication Library (MSAL) only to handle OneDrive sign-in. Its diagnostic and personal-data logging is turned off, and it sends no telemetry to us.

15.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add a feature that affects your data. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app or in the App Store release notes before it takes effect. If you keep using Notinot after a change, you accept the updated policy.
