1The short version
- Solat Plant for Android works entirely on your device. There is no account, no sign-in and no server.
- The app does not request the Android
INTERNETpermission, so the app itself cannot send your location, prayer logs, settings or plant over the internet. (The place-name lookup by Android in section 6 is done by your device’s system, not by the App.) - Your location, prayer logs, settings and plant are stored only on your phone. We do not receive them.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash-reporting service.
- Uninstalling the app deletes its data from your phone.
2About this policy
This policy explains how the Solat Plant app for Android (the “App”) handles information. The App is published by an independent developer (“we”, “us”). It applies to the App only, not to websites or services run by others, including Google. The Solat Plant app for iPhone has its own policy here.
By using the App, you agree to the handling of information described here.
Developer: Rufaidah Binte Mohd Kamal (individual developer, Singapore)
3Information the app handles
To calculate prayer times and grow your plant, the App uses the following information. It is created, processed and stored on your device and is not sent to us. The App itself has no internet access; see section 6 for the system services that handle location and place names.
| Information | Why it is used |
|---|---|
| Precise or approximate location (latitude and longitude) | To calculate local prayer times on your device. |
| Prayer settings: calculation method, Asr preference, time adjustments, time format | To show prayer times the way you’ve chosen. |
| Prayer logs: whether you marked a prayer as Prayed, Missed or No penalty, and when | To show your history and update your plant. The App never asks for or stores a reason for “No penalty”. |
| Plant progress, harvested flowers, pot colour and display choices | To show your plant and your unlocked items. |
| Notification preferences | To schedule the prayer reminders you’ve turned on. |
Because this information never leaves your device through anything we run, we do not “collect” it. See section 11 for how this relates to the Google Play Data Safety form.
4Where your data is stored, and backups
All App data is stored in a local database in the App’s private storage on your phone. The App has no cloud sync of its own.
Android’s Auto Backup is left on for this App. If you have Google backup turned on for your device, App data (including your prayer history and settings) may be backed up to your own Google Account and restored when you set up a new device. That backup is managed by Google and by you, not by us, and is covered by Google’s own terms and privacy policy. You can turn it off in your device’s Settings > Google > Backup.
The App does not currently offer Home Screen widgets on Android.
5Permissions
The App only asks for what it needs. You can change these at any time in Android Settings > Apps > Solat Plant > Permissions.
| Permission | What it is for |
|---|---|
Precise location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) and approximate location (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) | To calculate prayer times for where you are. Android lets you grant “approximate” only; the App still works with an approximate location. The App does not share or upload your location and does not use it for anything else; see section 6 for the system services involved. |
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) | To show prayer start and closing reminders, and the Prayed and Remind me actions on them. Reminders are local notifications created on your phone; there is no push server. |
Exact alarms (USE_EXACT_ALARM) | To deliver reminders at the exact prayer time. |
Run at start-up (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) | Android clears scheduled alarms when the phone restarts; this lets the App rebuild your reminder schedule. |
Your phone maker’s battery-saving settings can delay or block reminders. That is outside the App’s control.
6Services provided by Google and your device
To find your location, the App uses the fused location provider from Google Play services on your device. The App does not send your location to us. Google Play services is a separate component run by Google; anything it sends to Google (for example, if you turned on Google Location Accuracy) is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and is not received by us.
The App may ask Android’s built-in geocoder to turn your coordinates into a place name for display. This is best effort and fails silently. Depending on your device, the geocoder is a system service that may contact a service run by your phone maker or Google to look up the name. The App has no control over that service. TODO: confirm whether reverse geocoding must be declared as data shared in the Data Safety form
These services are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and your device maker’s terms, not this one. If you share diagnostics with Google in Android settings, Google may collect crash and usage information about apps on your device under its own policy.
7What we don’t do
- We don’t require an account or collect your name, email address or contact details through the App.
- We don’t use analytics, crash-reporting or advertising tools in the App.
- We don’t track you across apps or websites, and we don’t use your data for advertising.
- We don’t sell, rent or share your information with anyone.
8Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your phone until you remove it. To delete all App data, uninstall Solat Plant (or use Settings > Apps > Solat Plant > Storage > Clear data). This removes your prayer history, settings and plant from the device.
If Google backup was on, an earlier copy may remain in your Google Account backup until you delete it or it expires, under Google’s controls. We have no copy of your data, so we cannot recover, view, correct or delete it on your behalf.
9Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because the App does not transmit information to us, no personal information from a child is received by us through the App.
10Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data. As all App data stays on your phone and under your control, you can exercise these rights directly: view and change your records in the App, change permissions in Android Settings, or uninstall the App to erase everything. If you have a question about your rights, contact us using the details below.
11Google Play Data Safety summary
This is a plain-language summary of how the answers on the Google Play “Data safety” form are derived from the App’s locked specification. It is a reference for the Play Console form, not a separate legal promise.
| Play question | Answer for Solat Plant for Android | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Does the app collect or share any of the required user data types? | Precise and approximate location is accessed and processed on-device only. Nothing is transmitted to the developer or to any third party by the App. | No INTERNET permission; no analytics, ads, accounts or backend. TODO: decide declare-vs-not: the spec says the form must declare precise location either way |
| Data collected / shared | No data collected by the developer. No data shared with third parties by the App. | Spec: nothing reaches a developer-run service. Open points: Google Play services location, system Geocoder (section 6). |
| Is all data encrypted in transit? | Not applicable: the App makes no network requests. | No INTERNET permission. |
| Can users request data deletion? | Yes. Uninstall the App or clear its data. No account or server-side data exists. Auto Backup copies in the user’s Google Account are managed by Google and the user. | Local-only storage; allowBackup is on. |
| Advertising / analytics / data for advertising | None. | No ad or analytics SDKs. |
| Permissions declared | Fine and coarse location, notifications, exact alarms, run at start-up; plus network-state, wake-lock and foreground-service permissions added automatically by Android libraries the App uses. None grants internet access. | Android manifest. |
| Account required | No. | No accounts in the spec. |
Location is used only for app functionality (calculating prayer times). It is not used for advertising, personalisation by us, or analytics.
12Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if the App gains new features. We will post the updated policy on this page and change the “last updated” date above. If a change means data would leave your device, we will explain it in the App before it takes effect.
