1About these terms
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your use of Solat Plant (the “App”) on iPhone and Android. The App is published by Rufaidah Binte Mohd Kamal, an individual developer based in Singapore (“we”, “us”).
By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Our Privacy Policy (and the Android privacy policy) explains how the App handles information.
If you are under 18, please read these Terms with a parent or guardian.
2What the app is
Solat Plant helps you keep track of your daily prayers: it shows prayer times calculated on your device and grows a plant as you mark prayers. It is available for iPhone and for Android.
Solat Plant is free to download and use, with no ads, no accounts and no in-app purchases. If that changes, we will update these Terms before any paid feature is offered.
3Licence
iPhone / iPad. If you got the App from Apple’s App Store, it is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”). The Apple EULA is between you and us, not Apple; we, not Apple, are responsible for the App and its support. These Terms supplement the Apple EULA. If anything in these Terms conflicts with the Apple EULA, the Apple EULA prevails to the extent of the conflict; otherwise both apply.
Android. If you got the App from Google Play, these Terms are the licence agreement between you and us. Google is not a party to them and is not responsible for the App; your use of Google Play itself is governed by Google’s terms. We may end your licence if you seriously breach these Terms.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your own use. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the App, except where the law gives you that right regardless.
4Prayer times are calculations
- Prayer times are calculated on your device from your location and the calculation method, Asr preference and adjustments you choose. They can differ from your local mosque or religious authority, particularly at high latitudes or when your location is approximate.
- Solat Plant is a personal reminder and tracking aid. It is not a religious authority and does not give religious rulings. Please confirm important timings with a qualified source you trust. TODO: confirm wording after the Islamic advisory review that the specs say must happen before public release
5Reminders
- Reminders are local notifications created on your phone. They depend on your device’s notification, battery and alarm settings and may be delayed or blocked by them (on some Android phones, battery-saving features in particular). Do not rely on a reminder as your only means of knowing a prayer time.
6Your records
- Your prayer history, settings and plant are stored on your device, and in your own device backups (iCloud or Google) if you have turned those on. We hold no copy and cannot recover them if you delete the app or lose the device. The app is a gentle tracking tool; it does not judge you, and nothing in it is a statement about your standing.
7Third-party services and software
Solat Plant uses open-source software to calculate prayer times on your device (the Adhan library). On iPhone it relies on Apple location and notification services; on Android, on Android location and alarm services and Google Play services. Those services are governed by Apple’s or Google’s own terms. We are not responsible for services we do not run, and they can change or be unavailable.
8Ownership
The App, its design and its original content belong to us or our licensors. Your own content stays yours; we claim no rights in it. Because Solat Plant does not send your content to us, we do not receive a licence to it.
9Disclaimer and limits of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or uninterrupted operation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability to you, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, for any loss or damage of any kind arising from or connected with the App or these Terms, including a missed or mistimed prayer reminder. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, special and consequential loss, and loss of data, profit, time or opportunity. The App is provided free of charge and you use it at your own risk.
You are responsible for your own decisions and for checking anything important independently, such as times, amounts or travel plans, and for keeping your own backups. We are not responsible for third-party services the App relies on (such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Land Transport Authority DataMall, your device maker, or your network), or for device settings, battery-saving modes or operating-system limits that stop the App working as you expect.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, and nothing affects your statutory consumer rights. If any part of this section is found to be unenforceable, it applies to the maximum extent the law permits and the rest remains in force.
10Ending your use
You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may stop offering or supporting the App, or update or change it, at any time. Sections on ownership, disclaimers and liability continue to apply after you stop.
11Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms, for example when the App gains new features. We will post the updated Terms on this page and change the effective date. If you keep using the App after an update, you accept the revised Terms.
12Governing law
These Terms, and any dispute about them or the App between you and us, are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have non-exclusive jurisdiction. This does not take away any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of the country where you live, including any right to bring a claim in your local courts.
