About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Transit Map Alarm iOS app (the “App”) handles information. The App is developed and published by an independent developer based in Singapore (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

At a glance

  • No account. There is no sign-up, login or user profile.
  • Location stays on your iPhone. Used only during a trip you start, then discarded.
  • No tracking or ads. No analytics, advertising or data sales.

1.Information we collect

We do not collect, store or have access to personal information about you. The App has no user accounts and does not send your location, favourites, or any identifier linked to you to us.

The App processes the limited information below to provide its features. Most of it never leaves your device.

InformationPurposeWhere it is kept
Precise locationTracking your progress towards your chosen stop during an active tripOn your device only, and only while the trip runs
Favourite stops and last trip settingsLetting you quickly check stops you use and restart a recent tripOn your device only
Bus stop codes and service numbersGetting routes and live arrival timesSent from your device directly to LTA DataMall to request bus data; we do not receive it (see section 4)

2.Location data

  • When it is used. The App uses your location only after you tap Start Trip. Tracking stops automatically when you reach your destination, dismiss the alarm, cancel the trip, or stop it yourself. The App does not track your location at any other time.
  • Permission level. The App asks only for “While Using the App” location access. It never asks for “Always” access. During an active trip, iOS lets the App keep receiving location updates if you lock your phone or switch apps, so the alarm can still go off. iOS shows a location indicator while this is happening.
  • Precision. The App asks for precise location because it must work out which stop you are near. If you allow only approximate location, the App will still work, but it will show a warning that alarms may be less accurate.
  • Processing. All destination detection happens on your device. Your location is never sent to us, to the Land Transport Authority, or to any other party by the App.
  • No history. Location readings are held in memory only while the trip is running. They are deleted as soon as the trip ends. The App does not keep a history of where you have been.

3.Data stored on your device

Your favourite bus stops and your most recent trip settings (bus service, boarding stop, destination stop, and alarm threshold) are saved in the App’s local storage on your iPhone. The settings never include location readings. This data is not uploaded to us. It may be included in your device backups (for example, iCloud Backup) if you have turned them on. Those backups are governed by Apple’s terms and your settings.

The wake-up alarm is scheduled on your device using Apple’s AlarmKit, which shows a system alarm that can include your destination stop name, the number of stops remaining and the estimated time. If AlarmKit cannot schedule the alarm (for example, if you have not allowed it), the App falls back to a local notification with sound. Both are created locally on your device. We do not send push notifications and do not collect a notification token.

4.Bus data requests

To show bus stops, routes and live arrival times, the App requests public transport data from the Land Transport Authority’s DataMall service. These requests are sent directly from your device to LTA. They do not pass through any server run by us, and we do not receive them. The App downloads LTA’s general lists of bus stops, services and routes, and during use it asks for live arrivals at the bus stop you are viewing or travelling from. Your location is not included in these requests.

Like any internet request, your device’s IP address and basic technical information (such as request time) are visible to LTA, together with the bus stop code you ask about. LTA handles that information under its own terms and privacy practices, which we do not control. We have no access to LTA’s records of these requests.

5.Third-party services

The App relies on the following services. We share with each only what it needs to provide its function. To our knowledge, each protects that information at least as well as this policy does.

  • Apple (MapKit, Core Location, AlarmKit, iOS). Maps are shown with Apple Maps. Apple may process information such as the map area you view, as described in the Apple Privacy Policy.
  • Land Transport Authority (LTA) DataMall. Supplies Singapore bus data. The App contacts LTA directly from your device, so LTA receives your device’s IP address and the bus stop you query. See LTA’s DataMall terms.
  • Vercel. Hosts this web page only; the App itself does not contact Vercel. See the Vercel Privacy Policy.

6.What we do not do

  • We do not use analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking SDKs.
  • We do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and we do not use the advertising identifier.
  • We do not sell, rent or trade any information.
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, health data or other personal content.

7.Retention and deletion

  • Location: deleted automatically when each trip ends.
  • Favourites and last trip settings: kept on your device until you remove them in the App or delete the App. Deleting the App permanently removes all of its data from your device.
  • Bus data requests: we do not receive or store them. How long LTA keeps its own request records is set by LTA.

We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side. If you have any questions, contact us using the details below.

8.Your choices and permissions

You control the App’s access at any time in the iPhone Settings app:

  • Location: Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Transit Map Alarm. Here you can turn off access or turn off Precise Location.
  • Alarms and notifications: Settings › Transit Map Alarm. You can turn off alarm and notification permission there; the trip alarm may then not alert you.

Withdrawing location permission stops the trip alarm from working, but you can still browse stops and arrival times.

9.Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data protection laws. These include Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation, and US state privacy laws. They may include the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to withdraw consent. We do not collect or hold personal data about you, but you can still contact us about these rights and we will respond within a reasonable time.

10.Children

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App does not collect personal information from any user.

11.Security

Data on your device is protected by iOS security features, including data protection encryption when your device is locked with a passcode. Requests the App makes to LTA use encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. However, we keep the risk low by not collecting personal data at all.

12.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if the App gains new features. We will post changes on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If a change significantly affects how your information is handled, we will also point it out in the App or in its App Store release notes before the change takes effect.

13.Contact us

If you have questions or requests about this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact us.
