1About these terms
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your use of Transit Map Alarm (the “App”) on iPhone. The App is published by Rufaidah Binte Mohd Kamal, an individual developer based in Singapore (“we”, “us”).
By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Our Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information.
If you are under 18, please read these Terms with a parent or guardian.
2What the app is
Transit Map Alarm wakes you before your stop on a Singapore public bus: you pick a bus service and a destination stop, start a trip, and the app sounds an alarm as you approach. It covers Singapore public buses only.
Transit Map Alarm is free to download and use, with no in-app purchases. If that changes, we will update these Terms before any paid feature is offered.
3Licence
iPhone. If you got the App from Apple’s App Store, it is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”). The Apple EULA is between you and us, not Apple; we, not Apple, are responsible for the App and its support. These Terms supplement the Apple EULA. If anything in these Terms conflicts with the Apple EULA, the Apple EULA prevails to the extent of the conflict; otherwise both apply.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your own use. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the App, except where the law gives you that right regardless.
4Do not rely on it alone
- Transit Map Alarm is a convenience. It is not a safety-critical system and it can fail or be late. Do not rely on it as your only way to get off at the right stop, and do not use it to make time-critical or safety decisions.
- Alarms depend on things outside our control: your phone’s GPS signal and accuracy, whether you allowed precise location, battery level and low-power settings, iOS background restrictions, Focus and silent settings, and the app still running. If iOS stops the app, the alarm may not sound.
- Arrival times and routes come from the Land Transport Authority’s DataMall and can be late, wrong or unavailable. They refresh about every 20 seconds at most.
5Using the app on a trip
- Keep your attention on your surroundings while travelling. Do not use the app in a way that is unsafe, for example while crossing a road.
- Location is used only during a trip you start. Start a trip only when you are ready for the app to track your progress.
7Third-party services and software
Transit Map Alarm uses Apple MapKit, Core Location and AlarmKit; the Land Transport Authority DataMall service for bus data; and Vercel to host the server that passes bus-data requests on and this website. Each is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for services we do not run, and they can change or be unavailable.
8Ownership
The App, its design and its original content belong to us or our licensors. Your own content stays yours; we claim no rights in it. Because Transit Map Alarm does not send your content to us, we do not receive a licence to it.
9Disclaimer and limits of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or uninterrupted operation. Bus data may be delayed, incomplete or unavailable, and the app may stop working if the data source is changed or withdrawn.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability to you, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, for any loss or damage of any kind arising from or connected with the App or these Terms, including a missed stop, a late arrival or a missed connection. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, special and consequential loss, and loss of data, profit, time or opportunity. The App is provided free of charge and you use it at your own risk.
You are responsible for your own decisions and for checking anything important independently, such as times, amounts or travel plans, and for keeping your own backups. We are not responsible for third-party services the App relies on (such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Land Transport Authority DataMall, your device maker, or your network), or for device settings, battery-saving modes or operating-system limits that stop the App working as you expect.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, and nothing affects your statutory consumer rights. If any part of this section is found to be unenforceable, it applies to the maximum extent the law permits and the rest remains in force.
10Ending your use
You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may stop offering or supporting the App, or update or change it, at any time. Sections on ownership, disclaimers and liability continue to apply after you stop.
11Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms, for example when the App gains new features. We will post the updated Terms on this page and change the effective date. If you keep using the App after an update, you accept the revised Terms.
12Governing law
These Terms, and any dispute about them or the App between you and us, are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have non-exclusive jurisdiction. This does not take away any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of the country where you live, including any right to bring a claim in your local courts.
